New Computer Game - Space War

One of my favorite hobbies is computer programming. If I ever got a conventional job, I would want it to be as a programmer, and one day I will start a computer game development company, I think that would be great fun. The problem with enjoying programming as a hobby is that every time I don’t do it for an extended period of time, I have to learn a lot all over again, and that’s tough.

Anyway, the other day I was looking through some of my disorganized files, and I found a computer game that I wrote a while back. It’s quite a fun little arcade style game that I called ‘Space War’. It’s only got 8 levels, but I’ve never made it past level 6, and there is a high score so you can compete with your buddies. Check out some screen shots:

Early levels are easy enough:

After a while it gets tougher:

Anyway, you can download the full game here http://rapidshare.com/files/71654252/Space_War.rar, feel free to share it and spread it around, as long as nothing is changed. And make sure to give credit where credit is due, a link back would be nice. In fact, as an added incentive, I will link back to anyone that links to this post, you can write a review about it, or you can just make a simple link. Just leave a comment with the URL where I can find the link and reciprocate ASAP.

But first I gotta give a few credits of my own, I wouldn’t have been able to make this game if it weren’t for the book ‘Beginning Game Programming‘ by Michael Morrison. I owe a lot of code in the game engine to that book, and if you’re thinking of game programming as a hobby, this is the first book you should get.

Enjoy

Simon

Mini-Review Program (Batch 4)

I will start getting unpopular if I don’t put the links that are waiting to be added on. So even though I’ve only got three, I’m going to add them anyway, so batch 4 is going to be a 3 mini-review batch. If I’ve forgotten anyone, please let me know.

Here it is.

Disassociated.Com
- John’s got quite a nice little blog going here. Its quite a personal blog, but he does cover some topics such as blogs, technology, and design. The blog is very neatly done. Its definitely worth a visit, or better yet, many visits.

Andrew Owns AGLOCO - Andrew is another AGLOCO blogger. But he’s no ordinary member. I will open a bottle of fine champagne the day I get a network as large as his. There is a lot of valuable information here.

Make Money Online in Blog - Work at Home With Make Money Online in Blog. It has lots of money making ideas for people who want to work at home and make money online. It offers three (3) backlinks to your websites and/or blogs if you link to its blog from your new or old posts.

Mini-Review Program Rules.
If you’re wondering how you can be on my next batch of mini-reviews, then wonder no more. Its pretty simple, just place a link to http://www.simsnotes.com/ (the www… is necessary) anywhere on your blog, and leave a comment here with your details.

I hope to see you here soon.

Mini-Review Program (Batch 3)

And here’s batch number three.

Tune Dis in - This is a music blog. I’m not one for music myself, but I know that most people are, and for all you this is a very nice blog to check out.

Movie Popcorn
- Anyone for a movie? Come check this blog out if you’re not sure what to watch and you’d like to hear what someone else is saying.

Dis Hella Funny - If you want to lighten up and have a laugh, this blog can help you in that department. Its full of funny cartoons and video clips.

Cat’s Traveling Feet - This is another personal blog. This one is about travel and its full of very nice articles on very nice places around the world.

DOTA tips - This blog is a collection of tips and tricks on playing a game called DOTA. For an avid computer gamer like myself, I’m a bit surprised that I’ve never heard of that game. Anyway, it looks interesting.

Mini-Review Program (Batch 2)

I’m getting quite a few links, so I need to do a few mini-reviews before this thing gets out of hand. So here goes, batch number two.

Digital Drops - Nick is a Brazilian blogger who seems to think that Portugal does not have the best wingers in the world. That’s ok, since I was actually born in Brazil anyway. Apart from that, he runs a tech blog that is very nicely set up and full of very interesting information.

These Little Animals
- This is a personal blog about one lady’s adventures living in a small apartment in San Jose.

Full Happy Tummy - Here we go. A recipe blog, with quite an extensive repertoire. From Chocolates and Ice Cream to Sea Food and Mexican, you can find it all here.

600 Pound Woman - This is one woman’s journal as she tries to lose 600 pounds. Check it out if you’re looking to lose some weight, it has quite a few helpful articles.

This Gamer Girl - This is an interesting blog. Its all about computer games, and it has quite a few nice reviews. Its still a young blog, but you can’t go wrong with a topic like this.

Mini-Review Program (Batch 1)

I few days ago I started a mini-review program, where I’m offering to do a mini-review in exchange for a link anywhere on your site or blog.

Since my blog is only a few weeks old, I didn’t expect the kind of response that I would have liked, but I did, so far, get what I expected, and that was enough to fill up one batch at a time. Here it is.

Dude Say What? - This blog is a personal blog by Catherine. The blog seems to cover all aspects of every day life, from other bloggers to dealing with her husband. It has a very nice and simple layout.

AGLOCO Hour - Philomena Ojikutu blogs about AGLOCO. His blog has a simple and neat layout, and one of its interesting features is his ‘AGLOCO referral hours update’ posts, where he lists some bloggers and their current referral hours.

AGLOCO en Espanhol - Jonathan is another AGLOCO blogger, but he’s one with a network to be proud of. He blogs in Spanish so I couldn’t understand much, but his blog is nicely laid out, and he’s obviously got some good advice.

AGLOCO Italia - Francesco is an Italian blogger and he’s also a member of AGLOCO. His blog is written in his local language so its a must see for anyone Italian, unfortunately I can’t understand most of it. The blog is quite nice looking though, and its got a PR of 4.

Wealth and Money - Who doesn’t want a little of both. If that’s what you’re looking for, then Thea has a very nice blog that I think will interest you. She searches around the Net for interesting money related topics to write about. Her blog is nicely set up too.

Mini-Review Program

I need to increase my Google and Technorati rankings, and one of the best ways to do that is by collecting inbound links.

So here’s the deal, I will do a mini-review of your site or blog, and all I ask from you is a link. You heard correctly, just a link. You don’t have to write any reviews or anything like that.

The rules are simple, you have to link to the main page which is http://www.simsnotes.com/, you can place the link anywhere you want, and when you’re done, make a comment on this post with the details of your blog and I will do the mini-reviews in batches of 5.

Lets do it.

Please Subscribe to my Feed

So me and John Chow started this little competition, and that is to see who can have more feed readers by the end of the year. Just kidding, but seriously, I need more feed readers, the number I’m displaying is embarrasing. I’m trying to get a different widget that doesn’t display the number but feedburner is giving me a hard time.

So heres the deal. If you come onto my blog and you like it please subscribe to my feed, and in return I will do two things for you, I will subscribe to your feed, and every time I get 5 new subscribers I will make a post that will link to your blog with a mini-review. All you have to do is subscribe to my feed and then send me an e-mail with a link to your blog, and I will make the mini-review ASAP.

While you’re in the mood, please try to also vote for my blog and leave many comments, good or bad, for me to read also.

Thank you.
Simon

If you like this post…

This offer is no longer running, you’re still more then welcome to subscribe to my feed, but I will be offering another form of link exchange shortly.

Get Free Traffic with Reviews

So I was looking around for some blogs to exchange reviews or links with and I came across a very interesting site, its called reviewback.com.

Reviewback is basically an online community where you can search for like minded blogs and sites that are in the market for reviews. All you have to do is regester with them, its the simplest thing in the world, you hand over some details about your blog and thats it, you’re ready to rock and roll.

You can search blogs by name, age, page and alexa rank, and tags. My suggestion for new blogs and bloggers is to stay somewhere near your league. Don’t ask a pagerank 6 for a review if you’re a pagerank 0. Other than that you’re free to let loose.

To get you started, why don’t you…
