TylerCruz.com - Review

One of my favorite times of the day is when I get a little time to browse around the blogsphere, and meet other bloggers and check out their interesting blogs, sometimes you come across a real winner. TylerCruz.com is a winner in every sense of the word. I first noticed Tyler Cruz on John Chow’s top commentators list, but I didn’t really take much notice till I realized that he was also linked to on John’s sidebar. I don’t know what he did to get there but I’d certainly like to hear that story.

Tyler is a 23 year old internet entrepreneur. Thats not much older than I am and already he’s had so much success. Thats one of the things that I like about him, it shows me that it can be done.

Tyler does a lot of work in web publishing and design, and you really notice it with his blog. The layout is done in a very professional manner without any excess clutter. There are very few ads on this blog, or at least he hides them very well. My impression is that he organizes his own advertising, I got this impression from the few banners he has up. If this is the case then that would be another thing I like about him, its easy to just pop any old ad from any old service such as adsense, but it really makes a blog professional when you start selling your own ad space.

One of the things that is occupying my mind quite a lot at the moment is getting my RSS feed subscribers up, thats why I especially like to see other bloggers blogging about reaching their subscriber goals, like Tyler passing the 700 subscriber mark. Please tell me your secret, I was quite happy today when my subscribers jumped from 13 to 15.

This is yet another blog to add to my ‘where I want to be in a few months’ list, and I know that if I keep reading and learning from Tyler’s excellent advice, I’ll reach my goal too.

Monetize Your Blog with Text Link Ads

There are some bloggers out there that don’t care about making money, but those are few and far between. For most of us, money is not the most important thing, but its at least third on the list. There are many ways to monetize your blog, but in this post I’m going to talk a little bit about Text-Link-Ads.

With Text-Link-Ads you can sell simple, relevant, text adds on your site or blog. It makes the job of finding advertisers much easier for you as they do all the hard work, all you have to do is have a blog, and get approved (which is no small task).

There are a lot of ways to make money from your blog, but as much as some people like to complain about adds on a site, it is still one of the major ways of monetizing your blog. The beauty of Text-Link-Ads is its blending power, I’ve seen many blogs that use this service and none of them look like they’re displaying advertisements. With a label such as ‘Featured Sites’, or something similar, its quite easy to make it look just like a collection of links.

I did mention that it’s no small feat to get approved by Text-Link-Ads, in fact I’ve submitted my blog about 1 month ago and its still not approved. Their criteria is not easy to meet. There is some good news though, even if your blog is not approved you can still have an account, and you can take part in their affiliate program. You might find that you can make more money from the affiliate program than you can by displaying the ads. Text-Link-Ads will pay you 25 dollars for every paying advertiser you refer and for every publisher you refer. So you can relax and promote TLA while you wait for your blog to get approved, and who knows, you might get hooked.

Take a Blogging Challenge

I found another interesting way to get some inbound links for my blog. I’m still quite new on this site, but it seems very promising. Who likes blogging? If you’re reading this chances are that you’re into the blogging scene in some respect. If my assumption is correct, and if you do have a blog, then collecting inbound links should be on your list of important things to do. Unfortunately its a very time consuming and laborious activity, especially for a new blogger. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for new and easier ways to do it.

Thats how I came across ‘Link and Blog Challenge‘. This is a site where you can create and take part in unique blogging challenges. In fact, this post is a challenge. I’m not sure exactly how it works yet, but I’m quite excited with the possibilities, from what I understand this is a great way to not only collect inbound links but to also get rid of writers block. When you feel like you don’t have anything to write about, just take part in one of the challenges that interest you.

Check it out, you might really enjoy the experience.
